Can you believe that I almost didnāt buy this set?
Like⦠it sat in my cart for a hot minute while I told myself, āyou donāt need another packaging dieā¦ā
Yeah. That wouldāve been a mistake š¬
Because the second I started playing with it, everything clicked.
Not in a āoh this is cuteā kind of wayā¦
but in a āwait⦠what even IS this??ā kind of way.
Is it a card?
Is it a treat bag?
Is it pretending to be both?? š
Because suddenly I wasnāt just making treat bags anymore⦠I was making mini cards⦠that just happen to hold snacks.
And honestly? That changes everything.
Customer gifts āļø
Kid parties āļø
Neighbor drop-offs āļø
Movie night snacks āļø
DOG TREATS?? š¶āļø
Now instead of: āDo I bring a card and something extra?ā Itās:
š This is the card.
š This is the treat.
š This is the whole moment.
And before your brain jumps straight to holidays (because I KNOW it did š),
I wanted to start with everyday ideas first. Because this? This is just the beginning.
Grab your supplies, because weāre about to turn one little die into a whole system š„āØ
šļø Materials for DIY Treat Bag Toppers That Double as Mini Cards

Normally, I would walk you through every single version step-by-step, but Iām going to be honest⦠once I started making these, I didnāt stop š
And instead of writing 50 separate blogs⦠I wanted to show you how the system works so you can take it and run with it.
Because once you understand how these go together, you can make them for literally anything.

Letās Put This Baby Together
š How to Make DIY Treat Bag Toppers (The Easy Way)
Before we even get to cutting, start by picking your themeābecause thatās really what drives everything with this project.
Are you making something for a birthday? Movie night? Dog treats? Teacher gifts? This is where you decide the vibe first, then pull your papers, cardstock, and embellishments to match.
Once youāve got that figured out, then youāre ready to cut your pieces using the Playful Packaging dies.
Youāll need:
⢠2 top pieces (front + back)
⢠2 bottom pieces (front + back)
⢠2 handle pieces
And when I say ā2 of each,ā Iām talking about the die shapes, not matching paper. Your front and back can be completely differentāand honestly, thatās where this project really starts to shine.
š Same structure⦠endless combinations.
If youāre making a bunch (which⦠you probably will š), go ahead and cut everything at once and group your pieces together. It makes assembly so much faster later.
Once Your Pieces Are Cut, It Comes Together Just Like a Mini Card⦠With One Little Twist
Start by building your front and back panels:

⢠Attach your top piece to your bottom piece for both the front and the back. (Put together, mine measure 4āx3ā).
⢠If youāre using it, add your 4ā x 1/4ā strip across the seam to cover where they connect (hello, scrap buster š)
Now hereās the part that makes it all workā¦
Your top piece has a small flapāthis is what holds everything together.
Fold that flap toward the back of both your front and back panels.
š Think of it like a seam: youāre folding it inward so it gets hidden on the inside once everything is attached.
Before assembling, go ahead and decorate your front while everything is still flat (trust me on this one š ).
Once your front is ready:
⢠Attach your two handle pieces together.
⢠Adhere the handle to one of the folded flaps
⢠Then glue the two folded flaps together, sandwiching the handle in between
Thatās it!
No complicated steps, no overthinkingājust glue, press, and let it dry.
My finished panels measured about 4ā x 3ā, which honestly turned out to be the sweet spot. Itās just enough space to layer in a sentiment, a couple of embellishments, or even a little strip across the seam without everything feeling crowded.
It gives you more room than a typical small tag, but still keeps that quick, giftable feel.
These go together so easily⦠Itās the decorating thatāll have you making ten more ājust becauseā šš
š And Just Like That⦠Youāve Got a Whole Collection
Hereās where things get fun. What started as one idea⦠turned into a full lineup. Not because the project is complicated, but because once you realize how easy these are to customize, itās really hard to stop at just one š
You can keep it simple⦠or go all out depending on your mood, your stash, or how extra youāre feeling that day. And the best part?
š This is just a sample.
There are still birthdays, holidays, get-well, thinking-of-you⦠all the moments we havenāt even touched yet.
So if your brain is already spinning with ideasā¦
good. That means you get it šāØ
š Still in the Crafting Mood? Letās Keep It Going⦠š
Okay⦠so now that your brain is officially in āwhat else can I make?ā mode šāletās not stop at treat bags. Because if you loved the idea of turning paper into something thoughtful and a little extra⦠just wait until you see what you can do with a simple card.
Quick cards.
Layered cards.
Cards that look like you spent hours (but didnāt š)
The kind of projects that make people stop and say:
āwait⦠You MADE that??ā
So if youāre ready to keep that creative energy going⦠take a peek at some of my other card designs. Fair warning, thoughā¦
š once you start clicking, youāre not leaving anytime soon šāØ.
š Now Itās Your Turn⦠And I Know Youāre Gonna Get Creative With This
Okay⦠I need to see what you do with this.
Are you going:
šæ Movie night?
š¶ Dog treats?
š Teacher gifts?
š Party favors?
Or are you about to take this in a direction I didnāt even think of (which honestly⦠I love š)
Because thatās the best part of a project like this, no two are ever the same.
So if you make one (or ten š ), come share it! Drop it in the Members Gallery and letās see what you create š
š„ From āMaybeā to āMust-Haveā⦠Real Fast!
This set almost didnāt make it into my cart⦠but I am so glad it did.
And now? Itās one of those things Iāll reach for without even thinking. Not because itās complicated⦠but because it solves a problem.
Itās quick.
Itās cute.
It actually gets used.
And somehow⦠it turns the smallest little treat into a whole moment.
So if youāve been sitting there thinking,
āI donāt really need thatā¦ā yeah⦠I said the same thing š
⨠And hereās the fun part⦠this is actually a pre-order perk of being a Stampinā Up! demonstrator, which means I got to play with it earlyāand trust me, this oneās worth it.
It will be available in the May 2026 catalog, so go ahead and mark your calendar now⦠because this is one youāre going to want in your stash.
If youāve been on the fence about it⦠consider this your sign š„āØ
