🕸 This Is Halloween – A Haunted Mansion Inspired Halloween Card That’s Dying to Impress!

Black and white striped card with teal flower, dark leaves, and "This is Halloween" text. Wooden background, spooky yet elegant design.

Do you have a dark side… of cardstock? 😈 Or maybe a weak spot for spooky-chic stripes, gothic florals, and that oh-so-iconic pinstripe suit? Whether you’re team Jack & Sally or just love mixing creepy with classy, this handmade Halloween card is totally to die for. 🖤

Inspired by my Haunted Mansion Holiday scrapbook layout (yep, the one with stitched pinstripes and a hint of madness), this card puts a sinister spin on florals and pinstripes that would make Tim Burton proud. It’s got drama, dimension, and just enough dark whimsy to make your die cuts scream.

And guess what? You don’t even have to be a Disney lover to fall head-over-foam-tape for this design. If you’ve ever wanted to craft your favorite Halloween costume or character into a card, this is your sign, ghoulfriend. 💋👻

🧵 Let’s Make Magic – Step-by-Step Tutorial For The Haunted Mansion Inspired Halloween Card

Halloween card featuring stripes, blue flower, and text "This is Halloween." Black and white design. Wood background. Mood: spooky.

✂️ Step 1: Build Your Bold Base

Cut your Thick Basic White Cardstock to 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” and score at 4-1/4” to make a standard A2 card.

🖤 Step 2: Handmade Pinstripe Perfection

• Cut 1/4” x 4-1/2” strips of Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock

• Adhere the strips vertically across your card front, spacing them 1/4” apart

• Stop about 1” from the bottom, then add a 4-1/4” x 1/4” strip horizontally to cap off the pinstripe drama

🌸 Step 3: Die Cuts That Bring the Drama

STAMPIN' UP! POINSETTIA PETALS BUNDLE

Time to summon the spirits—aka your cutting plates and favorite dies.

Here’s how I built this boo-tiful bouquet of gothic goodness:

• Poinsettia & Holly Leaves – cut using the Poinsettia Petals Bundle

→ Poinsettia: Pool Party Two-Tone Cardstock

→ Holly Leaves: Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock

Concentric circular pattern in grayscale on a pale background, creating a hypnotic visual effect. No text or additional details present.
STAMPIN' UP! DECKLED CIRCLE DIES

• Lilies – cut on the Cricut using a Design Space file in Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock

• Sprigs – cut from the Golden Greenery Bundle

→ Colors: White Willow, Smokey Slate, and Basic Black

• Spiderwebs – cut from the Fright Night Bundle

→ Color: Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock

• Deckled Circle – cut with the Deckled Circle Dies

→ Color: Smokey Slate Cardstock

🖌 Step 4. Ink It Like You Mean It – Adding That Haunted Glow

Flat black embellishments = snooze. But add a little edge inking? You’ve got yourself a full-blown paranormal party. 🎃

Using a sponge dauber, because this is precision haunt work, I inked up the edges of each die cut for eerie dimension and moody magic. Why daubers? They give you more control, especially when you’re working in tight spaces like the inside of a lily near the stem or the tips of a spiderweb strand. 👻

Here’s how the haunted glow-up went down:

White stamp ink pad and refill bottle on a neutral background. The pad displays "Craft Stampin' Pad" and the bottle shows "Stampin' Ink."
Stampin' Up! UNINKED STAMPIN’ PAD & WHITE CRAFT REFILL to give them that ghostly lift off the dark card base!

• White Craft Ink was applied around the edges of all the black die cuts to give them that ghostly lift off the dark card base.

• Pool Party Ink was used on the Pool Party poinsettia petals, adding a soft, ethereal glow that made them look like they were lit from within.

• For a more mysterious fade, I used Black Ink around the edges of the Deckled Circle and Smokey Slate sprigs, adding drama without overwhelming the layout.

🕯 Pro Tip: Start light and build up your color slowly. You want that spooky-sophisticated edge, not a splotchy haunted mess!

🧙‍♀️🕷 Step 5: Layer Like a Villain

A teal flower with gray leaves on black and white stripes, featuring webs and text: "ThisChickLovesPaper.com Images @ Stampin’ Up!"

Cue the dramatic music—it’s time to build your spooky showstopper. 🖤

• Start with the Smokey Slate Deckled Circle as your base. Begin layering in your spiderwebs and sprigs first to create a haunted foundation. Don’t glue just yet—this is your dry-run moment.

• Next, position your florals. Move them around until you find a layout you love. It may take a few tries to get that perfectly creepy composition. Once you’re happy, then you can start adhering.

• For the lilies, I adhered the stems directly to the card base, keeping them grounded, just like a real bouquet. Then I added foam tape behind the flower tops, so they burst upward with spooky dimension. Think haunted bridal bouquet vibes… but make it villainous. 🥀

• And now for the poinsettia, aka the diva of the design. 🌟 To make it the star it was born to be, I added foam tape behind each petal. This gives it an elegant lift and makes it pop right off the card with wicked beauty.

🖤 Pro Tip: Don’t rush the layering—this is where your card comes to life (or afterlife 👻). Play around until it feels balanced and bold.

💬 6. That Signature Sentiment Stack – Because Flat Just Doesn’t Cut It

If you’ve been here before, you already know what’s coming…

It’s my signature trick, my crafty mic drop, and the pièce de résistance of this ghostly glam card:

Black and white Halloween card with a teal flower, striped background, and bold text "This is Halloween." Mood is festive and spooky.

🖤 I designed the “This Is Halloween” sentiment in Cricut Design Space and cut each letter five times from Basic Black cardstock—four for stacking and one as backup (because sometimes Cricut’s in a mood).

🖤 Then, I glued four layers of each letter together—yes, it’s extra, but so am I.

🖤 Once the stacks dried, I mounted them on a custom print & cut base layer, giving the letters that perfect shadow-pop effect.

The result? A jaw-dropping sentiment so bold and dimensional, Beetlejuice might try to steal it for his next outfit. 💀✨

Pro Tip: If you’re new to stacking die cuts, let each layer dry just a bit before adding the next. It’ll keep things from sliding around like a ghost on roller skates. 🛼👻

🎭 One Card. Infinite Costume Changes.

Halloween card with a black and white striped background, featuring a teal flower and black leaves. Text reads "This Is Halloween."

Sure, this card is drippin’ in Haunted Mansion Holiday vibes, but you don’t have to be a Jack & Sally superfan to fall in love with it. Between the bold pinstripes, gothic florals, and stacked sentiment, this design is basically wearing a full-on Halloween costume—and the best part? You can swap it out any time. 💃🦇

Love Beetlejuice’s stripes? Lean into jungle goth. Prefer Hocus Pocus? Add purple, sparkle, and a bubbling brew. More of a Disney villain girl? Go full Ursula with dark swirls and oceanic greens. Or hey—maybe you’re not about villains at all. Try channeling your favorite princess and give her a spooky glam twist. A haunted Belle card? A gothic Cinderella moment? Yes. Please. 👑🕷

Who says Halloween has to be all bats and broomsticks? Sometimes it’s ballgowns and black lipstick, and this card is your ticket to both. 🖤✨
