When it comes to holiday movies, Christmas Vacation is my absolute favorite! While most Christmas movies center around Santa, elves, or reindeer, this one captures the hilarious reality of a “normal” family celebrating the season—complete with mishaps, memorable one-liners, and that classic Griswold spirit. There’s just something about this movie that makes me laugh every time, and it so perfectly captures the true spirit of Christmas and family. I just can’t get enough!
Creating My Own Griswold-Inspired Layout

Recently, I pulled out some photos from one of our Christmas vacations in Disneyland to pair with the Let’s Go Anywhere collection by Close To My Heart (CTMH). As I sifted through the papers, I couldn’t help but hear Clark Griswold’s opening line in my head: “We’re kicking off our fun, old-fashioned family Christmas by heading out into the country…” That was the inspiration I needed—I decided to recreate the movie’s opening scene in my layout, capturing our own “Grazwold” adventure!
The Story Behind “GRAZwolds”
You might notice a twist on the Griswold name in my layout. With my son’s last name beginning with “Graz,” we have an inside joke about being the “GRAZwolds!” Adding that playful family nickname to the page brought in an extra personal touch and a bit of fun for us.
Incorporating Iconic Movie Lines
I knew I had to include some classic Christmas Vacation phrases in this layout! One of my favorite scenes is when Clark has his run-in with some “liver lips” truck drivers and tells them to “Eat my rubber” and “Burn some dust.” To capture the feel of that scene, I added “mud splats” and a visual of the family truckster to bring Clark’s hilarious spirit into my page.
Adding Final Details: Mud Splats and Road Signs
![I am loving these mud splats!](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/928548_def719663bb54c3aae13db7076068795~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_980,h_1307,al_c,q_85,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto/928548_def719663bb54c3aae13db7076068795~mv2.jpg)
To finish the layout, I used digital embellishments from the Let’s Go Anywhere digital art kit and added some road signs from Design Space. I love how this page turned out, and my son loved it too! He even suggested that I create more pages inspired by other scenes in the movie, so there may be a Christmas Vacation scrapbook “sequel” coming soon!
