When it comes to holiday movies, one reigns supreme in my house—Christmas Vacation! 🎥🎄 While most festive flicks focus on Santa and sugarplum dreams, this one delivers the real magic of the season—family road trip mishaps, unforgettable one-liners, and Griswold-level chaos! 😂 Every time I watch it, I laugh just as hard as the first time, and honestly… I relate to Clark Griswold a little too much!
Wait… What Does This Have to Do with Scrapbooking? 🤔
💡 Scrapbooking meets Griswold chaos!
I know what you’re thinking—What does Clark Griswold’s road trip disaster have to do with scrapbooking?! Trust me, everything.
Let me tell you the story behind this layout
🛻 The GRAZwolds Take On Christmas!
It’s super early in the morning. We’re loading up the car with our suitcases, coolers, and enough snacks to survive a zombie apocalypse. Suddenly, out of nowhere, my son and I start spewing lines from the movie:
🎤 “Loading up the GRAZwald family truckster, heading out on the good old country highway, to the hap-hap-happiest place on Earth!”
😂😂😂Cue the uncontrollable laughter.😂😂😂
My little man had just gotten his license and was SO excited to drive the first leg of the trip. I took a selfie of me riding shotgun while he grinned proudly in the driver’s seat. We made it an hour and a half to Baker, and then he casually handed me the keys.
“Mom, you drive.”
😂 WELL, THAT DIDN’T LAST LONG! 😂
Not even ten minutes later, I glance over and see him completely knocked out. UMMM… KODAK MOMENT. 💤📸
So when I sat down and began scrapbooking our Christmas vacations to Disneyland, I knew EXACTLY what I had to do—bring some Griswold-inspired fun to my layout and CTMH "Let's Go Anywhere" was the perfect backdrop! 🚗✨

🚙 Bringing the Griswold Madness to Life
As soon as I saw the CTMH Let’s Go Anywhere Collection, I knew this paper pack was MADE to tell this story. One of the patterned papers literally looks like a road map—I mean, COME ON! I didn’t even need to explain the story out loud—the paper was doing it for me!
Using Design Space® & my Cricut®, I created:
✔ A “Family Truckster” Scene:
No, we weren’t hauling a 25-foot Christmas tree, but I had to include a nod to Clark’s legendary road trip disasters. 🚗💨
✔ Custom SVG Embellishments:
Luggage, passport, sunglasses, and a room key—ALL cut from the Let’s Go Anywhere Digital Art Kit.
✔ Movie Quotes & Road Signs:
One of my favorite Christmas Vacation moments is when Clark exchanges a few choice words with the truckers. “Eat my rubber!” and “Burn some dust!” had me rolling, so I added mud splats, distressed road signs, and inked edges for that perfect chaotic road trip feel!
Pro Tips for Creating Movie-Inspired Scrapbook Layouts 🎬✨
1️⃣ Set the Scene with Paper Choices
Your background paper can do more storytelling than you think! Choose map prints, holiday-themed patterns, or distressed textures to reflect the movie’s mood—just like I used the CTMH Let’s Go Anywhere collection to mimic a Christmas road trip!
2️⃣ Use Quotes as Titles or Embellishments
Movie one-liners can be absolute gold for scrapbook layouts! Whether it’s “Eat my rubber!” or “Burn some dust!”—printing or cutting these out as embellishments make your page instantly recognizable and fun!
3️⃣ Think Beyond the Photos
Sometimes, it’s not just about the pictures—it’s about the inside jokes, memories, and the chaos behind them! Consider adding journaling strips, speech bubbles, or handwritten notes to capture the backstory in a playful way.
4️⃣ Distressing & Inking for That “Lived-In” Look
A little mess adds character! Inked edges, distressed paper, and grungy ink splatters can enhance the road trip feel, making your page feel like a well-loved holiday postcard.
5️⃣ Layer, Layer, Layer!
Depth = Drama. 🎭 Adding foam tape behind elements like road signs, luggage, or your title makes everything pop—just like a classic over-the-top Griswold moment!
6️⃣ Hidden Journaling for the Real Stories
Let’s be honest—some family moments are too funny (or embarrassing 😂) to be front and center. Tuck a hidden journaling tag behind a photo with the real story, and let future scrapbook viewers discover the behind-the-scenes comedy!
7️⃣ Make It a Series!
If one layout isn’t enough to capture all the hilarious holiday madness, expand it into a themed scrapbook! Imagine a page dedicated to Cousin Eddie’s RV, Clark’s light display disaster, or the infamous turkey scene! 📖✨
🎬 Coming Soon: A Christmas Vacation Scrapbook Sequel?!
When I showed my son this page, his reaction?
😆 “Mom! You should make more layouts inspired by the movie!”
And honestly? I JUST MIGHT! 🎄✨
I mean… imagine a layout dedicated to Cousin Eddie’s RV, the squirrel fiasco, or Clark’s “250 strands of lights” meltdown! The possibilities are endless! 😂
