🎥 Step-by-Step: How to Make This Popcorn Powerhouse of a Card
This card was born as the “mini-me” to my Hollywood Land layouts — same bold colors, same film-strip flair, just snack-sized for card lovers. If you enjoy making companion cards for your scrapbook themes, this one’s going to pop right off your craft table. Let’s build it!
1️⃣ Build Your A2 Base
Cut an 8-1/2” x 11” piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock in half horizontally.
Score at 5-1/4” to form a horizontal A2 card base.
2️⃣ Add the Popcorn Panel
Cut two panels slightly smaller than 5-1/2” x 2-1/4” — one in Poppy Parade, one in Crushed Curry.
Adhere Crushed Curry on the bottom half of the card base, then Poppy Parade on top. These will be the layered background panels for your film strip feature.
3️⃣ Film Strip Feature 🎞️
Make your film strip using Basic Black and White Willow Cardstock.
Lay the strip diagonally across the card front — just be sure to angle it so that you leave room for your sentiment in the lower right corner.
Once happy with the placement, adhere and trim off the overhanging edges.
📸 For full photo instructions, check out my Hollywood Land layout blog here.
4️⃣ Stamped Popcorn = Instant Charm 🍿
Stamp several popcorn pieces from the Poppin’ By Bundle in Crushed Curry on White Willow Cardstock.
Die cut them out with your Cut & Emboss Machine.
5️⃣ Make Your Own Popcorn Bucket 🎯
Cut a basic bucket shape from White Willow.
Add Poppy Parade strips over the front to mimic a vintage popcorn bucket. BAM. Instant drama.
6️⃣ Add Movie Magic: SVG Embellishments
Design your movie tickets and film reel in Cricut Design Space®, or:
• Cut a 1-3/4” to 2” Brushed Silver circle.
• Punch holes around the edge using a circle punch.
• Back it with Basic Black for contrast.

Position your embellishments — but don’t adhere just yet. First…
7️⃣ Stamp the Sentiments
With embellishments in place (but not glued down), decide where you want your sentiment.
Remove pieces and stamp in Jet Black Staz On®. Once dry, reattach everything.
8️⃣ Foam Tape for the Win 💥
• Attach the movie tickets and film reel to the popcorn bucket.
• Pop that bucket up with foam tape and let it burst right off the card!
Then add 3 popcorn pieces over the film strip — layering them slightly and popping one up for dimension. Instant movement!
9️⃣ The Inside’s Got Sass, Too ✍️
Stamp the word "POP" around the inside panel in Jet Black, rotating the direction for playful energy.
Add a Crushed Curry mat (3-3/4” x 2-3/4”), ink the edges in Crushed Curry.
Layer a White Willow mat on top (3-1/3” x 2-1/2”) and softly blend Crushed Curry ink for a buttery glow.
Stamp your sentiment in the center.
🔟 Finish with a Feature Popcorn Star
Stamp two popcorn bucket images, one in Crushed Curry, one in Poppy Parade.
Cut the yellow popcorn from the Crushed Curry version and glue it on top of the red bucket.
Add sunglasses and shoes (cut from Basic Black) to finish this little movie star!
