What do you get when you combine bold colors, bouncy circles, and one floppy-eared character in Hollywood Land? A scrapbook layout that’s goofy in the BEST possible way! 🌀🐭
This 12x12 Disney-inspired double-page spread is cardstock-only and proud of it—no patterned paper needed when your two-tone cardstock brings this much punch. Designed entirely in Cricut Design Space®, this layout turns a character-chasing memory into a layout full of movement, mischief, and Mickey-shaped magic. 🖤✨
Get ready to laugh, layer, and relive one of our favorite Hollywood Land moments… all while learning how to bring this playful Goofy layout to life!
📸 A Goofy Kind of Day: The Story Behind This Disney-Inspired Scrapbook Layout!
This layout captures a whirlwind of a morning in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure, where my little man and I zigzagged up and down the street chasing down surprise character sightings. 🏃♀️🐭
And the moment we finally caught Goofy? TOTAL GOLD.
In one of my favorite photos from the day, Goofy’s ear flopped forward right in front of my son’s face! 😂 It was the perfectly imperfect memory that had to be scrapped with just the right mix of bold color, playful shapes, and a whole lotta love.
Because Goofy’s outfit was already wild and busy, I let the layout breathe with clean circles, double titles, and—of course—a few Hidden Mickeys. Add a layered Goofy hat and a heart-hands embellishment? And BOOM. Instant scrapbook magic.

✂️ HOW TO BUILD THIS GOOFY, BOUNCY, CARDSTOCK-ONLY LAYOUT
Before a single circle was cut or a title was placed, this layout lived digitally in Cricut Design Space®. Designing it digitally first let me experiment with bold colors, test the balance of each page, and nail the placement of those playful Goofy-inspired elements. Once everything felt just right, it was time to grab the trimmer, ink those edges, and bring that sketch to life — one vibrant cardstock layer at a time. Now let’s jump into the full step-by-step so you can recreate the magic!
1️⃣ Start with a Black Canvas!
I used two full sheets of 12x12 Basic Black cardstock as my base. I usually reach for white—but this time, the black made the colors pop like fireworks over Disneyland! It instantly brought drama and contrast to the page. 💥
2️⃣ Cut & Place Your Circles!
Circles were non-negotiable on this layout—they matched Goofy’s energy AND our chaotic chase around Hollywood Land.
I cut a variety of sizes in Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, and Azure Afternoon, then added a double-matted focal circle in White Willow and Garden Green.
✨ Hidden Mickeys?
Oh, you know it!
I snuck in three 0.92” Mickey head outlines because no Disney-inspired layout is complete without a little Mouse Magic.
3️⃣ Line It Up with Photo Panels & Trim Strips!
Once my circles were in place, I used Balmy Blue and Azure Afternoon cardstock to create custom photo panels that grouped everything together. These background layers helped the photos feel unified, while still letting each snapshot shine! 🌟
To keep things visually connected across both pages, I added three thin 12” x ¼” strips of Azure Afternoon cardstock as trim. These strips act like little guide rails for your eye, adding structure and movement without overwhelming the layout. 🎯
4️⃣ Double-Mat Every Photo!
I gave every photo the VIP treatment using a two-tone cardstock matting technique with Azure Afternoon and White Willow.
This not only added structure but tied every photo back to the playful circle theme running throughout the layout.
Before adhering anything down, I inked all the edges of the photo mats with Azure Afternoon ink to give them depth and dimension against the bold black background.
✨ Pro Tip: Sometimes I take it a step further and ink the edges of the actual photos, usually in black, to make them pop even more. It adds instant contrast and helps busy backgrounds stay focused where they should be… on the memory!
5️⃣ Add Those Titles & That Goofy Hat!
Using Cricut®, I designed two custom titles in bold, layered font styles that echo Goofy’s wacky charm—and I didn’t stop there! To match the bouncing circles throughout the layout, I gave each letter a playful, staggered placement so it felt like the title was literally dancing across the page. 🕺💛
Each letter was cut from a different cardstock color to amplify that goofy, off-the-wall energy. Mixing the colors made it feel spontaneous and full of personality—just like our character chase that inspired it!
But the real show-stealer? That Goofy hat embellishment! 🎩 Layered in Garden Green with just the right pop of blue, then lifted with foam tape for dimension, it pulls everything together like a bow on a birthday gift. It’s bold, it’s playful, and it instantly says Goofy was here.
6️⃣ Journal Your Adventure!
I kept the journaling tight and themed, just like a movie caption. I told the story of our Hollywood character chase, with a special nod to the moment Goofy’s ear flopped in front of my little man’s face (which still cracks me up every time I look at the photo!).
And right at the end?
I added that heart hands embellishment—because the words “I love this memory” needed a visual hug. 💛
✨ Final Thoughts on Assembly:
Every inch of cardstock was inked in its coordinating Stampin’ Up! Classic Ink color before I adhered a single piece. It gave this bold layout that extra depth and richness, especially against the black base. And even without a single sheet of patterned paper, the two-tone cardstock brought movement, color, and magic. With Goofy’s silly spirit shining through, this layout proves you don’t need busy paper to tell a BIG story—you just need color, shape, and a little Disney-inspired joy. 🎨🐭
