✨ Homecoming Scrapbook Layout: The Jump That Created a Moment I LOVE ✨

Updated: 5 days ago

Scrapbook page with floral designs, colorful stripes, and two photos of people celebrating. Text says "LOVE." Bright and cheerful mood.
📸 Jump for Joy! This isn’t just a layout—it’s a celebration of once-in-a-lifetime moments! 💃✨

There are scrapbook layouts… and then there are layouts that feel like the moment — the energy, the chaos, the laughter, the “oh my gosh, we’ll remember THIS forever.”

Lil Man’s first — and thanks to Covid, only — Homecoming was exactly that. A once-in-a-lifetime night wrapped in hairspray, florals, and pure teenage joy. And you KNOW this mama wasn’t showing up small. We went full throttle:

✔ limo

✔ photographer

✔ CPK dinner

✔ surprise ice-cream limo detour

✔ me vibrating with excitement while pretending to be cool (I tried… kinda 😅)

But the magic moment?

The picture.

I told the group, “Okay — forget the poses. Give me ENERGY. Give me JOY. JUMP!”

And oh… they jumped.

Everyone launched into the air — hair flying, dresses floating, joy exploding — except one girl who refused to risk her heels and stood sweetly in front. It was pure, unscripted perfection. And when I paired that photo with the calm, posed shot taken seconds before?

The story told itself.

So while the moment was pure mid-air joy, the title on my layout became one simple, perfect word: LOVE. Because that jump created a photo I absolutely treasure.

Before we dive in, this layout was created long before blogs and process photos were even a thought — so we’re recreating it together with storytelling, technique, and all the behind-the-scenes “why” behind the design.

Grab your glue, adjust your crown, and let’s jump into this Homecoming scrapbook layout — heart first. 💖✨✨

✂️ Materials — Homecoming Scrapbook Layout (LOVE Edition)

To create a layout as breathtaking as the night itself, I turned to the CTMH Secret Garden Collection—a dreamy mix of soft pastels, timeless florals, and delicate embellishments that make every page feel magical!

And while the CTMH Secret Garden Collection brings that soft, pastel sweetness I LOVE for this layout, you can absolutely recreate this design with Stampin’ Up!® cardstock and inks.

🌸💥How to Create This Homecoming Scrapbook Layout: Step-by-Step Magic💥🌸

This layout was created in the early days — before I became the scrapbook detective who writes down every measurement, angle, and adhesive choice like it’s a crime scene report. So while some measurements are lost to the paper-crafting galaxy, the process, intention, and design logic are all here.

💙 1. Building the Foundation: Soft Hues for a Night Filled With Heart

No process photo? No problem. DS gives us the glow-up. 💻🤍

To set the mood for a layout celebrating pure mid-air joy, I started with a 12×12 sheet of CTMH Periwinkle Cardstock. Its soft, dreamy hue brings a calm elegance that balances the energetic photos.

I hollowed out the center to create a lightweight frame, then layered a piece of White Daisy Cardstock trimmed to 11½″ × 11½″ on top.

The bright white instantly opened up the page, creating a clean, fresh spotlight for the heart and photos to shine. It’s a simple base, but one that sets the tone beautifully for everything that comes next.

✨ Pro Tip: When your photos are full of action, pair them with a subtle, airy background. It helps the story shine without overwhelming the eye.

💗 2. Creating the Striped Heart: Assembling the SVG Piece by Piece

Decorative heart-shaped design with pastel stripes, flowers, and two empty photo frames. Text: LOVE. Mood is cheerful and artistic.
Where the heart magic started. 💗✨

The heart on this layout began with a striped-heart SVG I found in Cricut Design Space®. Instead of one solid cut, the SVG breaks the heart into perfectly shaped strip pieces — allowing each one to be cut individually from the CTMH Secret Garden two-tone cardstock.

Once the strips were cut, I assembled them directly onto the White Daisy base, placing each piece like a colorful puzzle coming together. As the strips connected, the heart took shape in soft pastels and gentle angles, creating a bold, joyful centerpiece that mirrored the energy of the Homecoming jump photo.

✨ Pro Tip: When assembling SVG strip pieces on a blank background, start with the outermost pieces. It locks the shape into place, making the rest of the assembly effortless.

📸 3. Matting and Adding the Photos: Framing the Calm and the Chaos

Photos of a joyful group in elegant outfits, surrounded by colorful, patterned paper with "LOVE" text. Floral accents on paper.
Framing the calm and the chaos — and I LOVE both. 💗

These two photos — one perfectly posed, one perfectly airborne — deserved mats that highlighted both their contrast and connection. I double-matted each 3×3 photo using White Daisy for brightness and Pine patterned paper for depth. The crisp white lifts the photos off the page, while the Pine adds grounding richness that plays beautifully against the pastel palette. Once matted, I positioned the photos near the striped heart so the story reads naturally: the quiet before the jump, and the explosive joy that followed.

✨ Pro Tip: When pairing a still photo with an action shot, use consistent matting on both. It unifies the story visually while letting each moment shine.

🌸 4. Die-Cutting the Floral Embellishments: Pastels That Softly Bloom

Delicate blooms framing a moment I LOVE. 🌸✨

Next came the florals — the delicate touches that bring softness and sweetness to this high-energy layout.

Using the CTMH Secret Garden Thin Cuts, I die-cut flowers in Periwinkle, Peach, Honey Butter, Sage, and White Daisy.

These colors echoed the gentle hues of Homecoming night and added dimension without overpowering the center heart.

I also cut Pine cardstock leaves to weave into the clusters, giving just the right amount of contrast and grounding.

✨ Pro Tip: Cut more florals than you think you’ll need. Having extras lets you build clusters that feel balanced and natural without stopping mid-flow to cut more pieces.

🌸 5. Building the Floral Clusters: Letting the Page Breathe and Bloom

🎨 Inked & Layered for WOW! Soft inking + light & dark cardstock = depth, drama, and floral magic! 🌿💛

With all the pieces ready, I began shaping and layering the flowers.

A little bending of petals and soft tone-on-tone inking brought each bloom to life.

I arranged the florals around the heart and photos, tucking the Pine leaves behind the petals to create gentle shadows and depth.

Some flowers rest lightly on the heart, others hug the edges of the photo mats, helping the page flow in a soft, organic arc.

These clusters don’t just decorate the layout — they echo the emotion of the night, adding sweetness to the bold joy of the jump.

✨ 🔥 Pro Tip: Using cardstock with light & dark variations (like CTMH’s two-tone designs) gives your florals depth without extra layers!

🦋 6. Adding the Title and Butterflies: Movement That Mirrors the Moment

Scrapbook page with photos of joyful people celebrating. Background has pastel patterns. Embellished with white flowers and the word "LOVE".
A little LOVE and a flutter of magic. 🦋💗

Once the florals were set, it was time to add the details that give the layout its lift. The butterflies — cut from the CTMH Honey Bunny Digital Art Kit — drift softly across the page, creating the upward movement that mirrors the mid-air energy of the jump photo.

And even though the moment itself was pure, joyful motion, I chose a title that captured why this photo means so much to me: LOVE.

Love for the memory.

Love for the moment.

Love for the way that jump shot still makes my heart leap right along with them.

Cut on my Cricut®, the title sits quietly but powerfully beside the design, grounding all that movement in one simple truth: this layout exists because that jump created a photo I absolutely adore.

✨ Pro Tip: When your story has lots of visual excitement, anchor it with a simple, meaningful title. It gives the whole layout emotional clarity.

✨7. Finishing Touches: Sparkle That Makes the Memory Shine

To tie everything together, I added Cherry Cobbler and Pearl Adhesive-Backed Berries to the centers of select florals — tiny, elegant touches that echo the shimmer of Homecoming accessories.

Finally, I added the journaling using Avery clear labels, letting the words blend seamlessly into the White Daisy background without disrupting the delicate design.

These final details bring just the right amount of sparkle and storytelling to a layout already bursting with emotion.

✨ Pro Tip: Clear labels are perfect when you want heartfelt journaling without adding visual weight. They let your story shine without competing with your design.

🌸✨A Layout That Jumps Right Off the Page✨🌸

Scrapbook page with group photos, "LOVE" text, and colorful flowers. Background has pastel stripes. Text mentions September 21, 2019.
🦋 Whimsical & Wow-Worthy! Delicate butterflies and soft hues bring this scrapbook page to life! 🌈💖

This layout leaps — literally — off the page.

It captures Homecoming exactly as it felt in the moment: joyful, chaotic, emotional, and absolutely unforgettable. The combination of soft pastels, bold movement, and a centerpiece full of energy makes this page a showstopper for any story built on joy.

And while this design was made for a night filled with sparkles and mid-air laughter, its versatility stretches far beyond Homecoming. With a quick shift in colors or embellishments, this striped heart and floral layering become a beautiful foundation for all kinds of heartfelt memories you love:

💍 Weddings – Elegant, romantic florals for those soft, dreamy moments.

🐣 Easter & Springtime – Pastels and gentle layers perfect for new beginnings.

💖 Mother’s Day & Valentine’s Day – Layouts that wrap love right around your photos.

👶 Baby Showers – Sweet, delicate textures that celebrate tiny new arrivals.

✨ Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix and match collections. The right blend of patterns and colors can turn a single design into a signature style for multiple stories.
