• Leonardo + Donatello SVGs
Designed in Design Space®: SVGs, Layouts, and Pizza-Fueled Planning
Just like the first layout in this birthday bash series, I kicked things off in Cricut Design Space®—because before any paper hits the mat, I like to see it all come together on screen.
That’s where I created the full layout sketch, planned the placement of my title, and dropped in all the SVG embellishments. Using Design Space allowed me to visualize every piece—photos, pizza slices, balloons, turtles, and dripping cheese—before I made a single cut.
Once everything was designed, sized, and ready to go, I printed, cut, and moved from screen to scene. That’s when the real fun began: actually building the layout piece by piece, layering each element with purpose, and letting the story unfold.
Step-by-Step Breakdown: Building the Pizza-Powered Page!
Here’s how this layout comes together—step by step, slice by slice:
Step 1: Add Your Border Layers
LEFT PAGE (12x12 White Willow base)
• Start by layering the ¼” x 12” black strip flush with the left edge of your base page.
• Right next to that, adhere your ½” x 12” Poppy Parade strip.
• Then add your 3½” x 12” polka dot patterned paper to finish the vertical border panel.
RIGHT PAGE (12x12 White Willow base)
• Start by layering the ¼” x 12” black strip flush with the right edge of your base page.
• Right next to that, adhere your ½” x 12” Poppy Parade strip.
• Then add your 3½” x 12” polka dot patterned paper to finish the vertical border panel.
Step 2: Build Your Photo Mats
• Create five square photo mats using 4½” x 4½” Poppy Parade as the base and 4¼” x 4¼” White Willow for the inner mat
• Final photo size: 4” x 4” for each
• For the horizontal photo, cut a 6½” x 4½” Poppy Parade mat with a 6¼” x 4¼” White Willow layer
• Final photo size: 6” x 4”, landscape orientation
Once everything is prepped, place your photo mats on the page, balancing sides, spacing for embellishments, and making room for the titles.
Step 3: Add the Centerpiece Title
• Place your layered “Pizza Time” SVG title in the central space on the left-hand side of the layout.
This is your power move—bold, balanced, and bursting with cheese!
Step 4: Bring in the Characters!
• Add your Leonardo SVG holding his stack of pizzas in the lower left. Foam tape makes him pop!
• Add your Donatello SVG to the lower right
• Place your giant gooey pizza SVG in the upper right corner—because YES, even toppings deserve the spotlight!
Crafting with Character—And a Whole Lotta Flip-Flap Magic!
This layout might look like it’s holding just six snapshots—but hold onto your pepperoni, because with the magic of flip flaps, we’re taking it from a 5-photo layout to a full-blown pizza party of 8 to 14 photos! Every single 4x4 mat has a hidden hinge—ready to spill more story, showcase more smiles, and unlock those behind-the-scenes birthday moments.
Whether I’m adding extra pics or using that space to finally tell the wild tale of what went down off camera, these flip flaps turn this spread into a memory-making masterpiece. Journaling, layering, or loading it up with snapshots—you get to choose how the story unfolds.
Scrapbooking isn’t just about what you see—it’s about what you reveal. And this layout? It’s got more layers than a deep-dish supreme.
