How To Turn Scraps to Stunning: Handmade Valentine’s Day Card Inspiration
Build the Base
Start with an A2 card base in Stampin’ Up! Basic White Thick cardstock. Cut vertical banners from Cherry Cobbler, Pretty in Pink, and Smoky Slate cardstock. Edge the banners with coordinating ink and add faux stitching with a white gel pen for dimension and charm.
Add a Floral Background Touch
Using the CTMH Botanical Background Stamp, I stamped the image above the banners in Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin’ Pad. The best part? This effect works with any floral background stamp you have in your stash—perfect for stash-busting!
Add a 1/4” Strip in between the stamped background and vertical banners cut in Cherry Cobbler cardstock to create a vibrant transition.
Hearts That Steal the Show
The large centerpiece heart takes center stage here. Using Cricut® Design Space, I cut a variety of hearts in different sizes to layer across the banners. A quick swipe of the CTMH Clear Shimmer Brush adds a subtle sparkle to each heart, making them truly shine.
A Sentiment That Says It All
The bold yet elegant “Love” sentiment is the star of this card! Stamped in Jet Black StāzOn ink with the CTMH Heartful Thoughts Stamp Set, it creates a stunning focal point that ties everything together beautifully.
Decorate the Inside
For the inside, I used the Stampin’ Up! Hearts of Elegance Stamp Set for the “Happy Valentine’s Day” sentiment and added floral accents in Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green.
Finishing Touches
Finally, Layer smaller hearts around the centerpiece to enhance the design. The Drusy Adhesive-Backed Embellishments provide just the right touch of sparkle to make the card feel complete.
