How to Create Mickey and Minnie Hot Cocoa Christmas Cards – A Disney-Inspired Holiday Craft

There’s nothing quite like cozying up with your favorite holiday movie and a mug of hot cocoa during the Christmas season. This year, my little man and I enjoyed one of our holiday favorites: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Inspired by this magical movie night, I created these Mickey and Minnie hot cocoa cards to blend holiday cheer with Disney magic. These cards perfectly capture the warmth and joy of our family traditions, and I can’t wait to share how you can create your own Disney-inspired Christmas card!

Bringing My Vision To Life

Before cutting a single piece of paper, I turned to Cricut®️ Design Space®️ to plan my project. This tool allowed me to visualize my layout and create elements I didn’t have in my stash, like the Mickey and Minnie silhouettes and Minnie’s signature polka dot bow. Design Space®️ gave me precise measurements and the freedom to tweak my design before diving into the crafting process.

• Cut your card base from Stampin’ Up! Basic White Thick Cardstock to measure 5-1/2” x 4-1/4.”

• Cut a Real Red mat to the same size and adhere it to the card base.

• Cut another mat from Basic White cardstock (5-1/4” x 4”) and emboss it using the So Swirly Embossing Folder. Attach the embossed mat to the Real Red mat.

2. Die Cut the Mugs and Leaves:

• Using the CTMH Hug in a Mug Thin Cuts Set, die-cut the mugs from Real Red cardstock.

• Ink the edges of the mugs with a Sponge Dauber and Stampin’ Up! Real Red Ink for added depth.

• Die cut the holly leaves using Garden Green or CTMH Jade cardstock and the Stampin’ Up! Poinsettia Petals Bundle. Ink the edges with the Shaded Spruce Blends Marker (Dark) and trace the die’s inner details using the Light Shaded Spruce Blends Marker for realistic texture.

3. Add Mickey and Minnie Silhouettes:

• Cut Mickey and Minnie Mouse silhouettes using Cricut®️ from Basic Black cardstock. Adhere them to the mugs and embellish Minnie’s silhouette with a polka dot bow.

4. Assemble and Add Sweet Details:

•Position the mugs on the card base, adding candy canes, cinnamon sticks, and holly leaves around them for festive charm. See photos above.

•Cut whipped cream dollops using Cricut®️ to achieve a larger size, and stamp texture details with the CTMH Hug in a Mug Stamp Set and Linen Ink.

•Attach the dollops to the mugs using foam tape for a 3D effect.

•Position gingerbread men as shown in the photo above.

5. Finish with a Sentiment and Sparkle:

• Stamp the sentiment “Warm Winter Wishes” from the CTMH Home for Christmas Card-making Set and adhere it to the bottom of the card.

• Add Stampin’ Up! White Loose Snowflakes or snowflakes cut with Cricut®️ and brush shimmer over the entire design for a frosty, magical finish.
