🐻 How to Make a Winnie the Pooh-Inspired Honey Jar Card Full of Sweet Details

šŸÆšŸ» The Card My Crafty Brain Refused to Let Go Of

Handmade greeting card with a teddy bear holding honey; text says Oh, bother You deserve a little treat on a rustic wood background
This Winnie the Pooh-inspired Honey Jar Card is filled with sweet details, soft shimmer, layered dimension, and just enough honey to make a silly old bear smile! šŸÆšŸ»

Have you ever looked at a new paper collection and instantly had a project pop into your head?

Not a ā€œmaybe somedayā€ idea…

I mean the kind of idea that plants itself in your brain and refuses to leave until you bring it to life.

That was this Winnie the Pooh-inspired Honey Jar Shadowbox Card.

The moment I saw the Stampin’ Up! Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper, I could already picture it. A giant honey jar with warm golden shimmer, sweet little flowers, and one very happy bear standing in front of what was probably his version of winning the lottery. šŸ¤£šŸÆ

There was just one tiny problem…

The Filled With Sweetness Bundle was out of stock.

ā€œNo worries,ā€ I thought. ā€œI’ll grab it when it’s back.ā€

Except it didn’t come back.

The expected date got pushed back.

Then it got pushed back again.

And… you guessed it… it got pushed back AGAIN!

By this point, I had convinced myself this card might never happen. But every time I looked at that Silly Old Bear paper, the idea came right back. It was like my crafty brain kept whispering, ā€œDon’t give up… this one’s going to be adorable.ā€

Thankfully, it was right.

Today I’m going to show you exactly how to create this 5ā€ x 7ā€ Honey Jar Shadowbox Card from start to finish. I’ll walk you through every measurement, every layer, every little detail, and share a few of my favorite tips along the way. So grab your favorite drink, pull up a chair, and let’s make something sweet together!

I have a feeling this card is going to leave you craving honey… or maybe just another trip to your craft room. šŸ˜‰šŸÆ

So grab your trimmer, your favorite beverage, and maybe a snack. (Something tells me all this talk about honey is going to make us hungry. šŸÆāœØ)

šŸÆāœØ Let’s Build Pooh’s Dream Come True

This is a 5ā€ x 7ā€ card, and we’re creating depth, dimension, and just enough shimmer to make it feel special.

Cream striped paper on a black grid cutting mat over rustic wood, with twine and watermark text ThisChickLovesPaper.com.
Our 5ā€ x 7ā€ card base is ready! A soft Crumb Cake border and the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper create the perfect foundation for our honey jar scene.

šŸÆāœØ Step 1: Let’s Build a Strong Foundation

Start with your Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock.

Cut it to 10ā€ x 7ā€.
Score at 5ā€ on the long side.
Fold and use your Stampin’ Up! Bone Folder to burnish that crease nice and crisp.

Now for your striped DSP panel.

Cut your Silly Old Bear 12ā€ x 12ā€ Designer Series Paper to 4-3/4ā€ x 6-3/4ā€.

This measurement gives you that beautiful framed look on a 5ā€ x 7ā€ base.

Lightly ink the edges of this panel using your Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Pad and a sponge dauber. This softens the edges and keeps everything warm and cohesive.

Adhere this panel to the front of your card base.

Set that aside.

Paper crafting workspace with gold embossed card front, twine spool, and cutting mat; Close to my Heart label visible.
Embossing, inked edges, and that gorgeous Golden Glow Pearlized Specialty Paper create the warm shimmer behind our honey jar.

šŸÆāœØ Step 2: Create the Jar Frame

Now we’re building dimension.

Cut a piece of Stampin’ Up! Very Vanilla 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock to 4-1/4ā€ x 6ā€.

Using the jar die from the Stampin’ Up! Filled With Sweetness Bundle (English), die-cut the jar shape from the center of this panel.

Before embossing, take your Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Pad and a sponge dauber and gently ink:

• The outer edges of the Very Vanilla panel

• The inner outline of the jar opening

This step adds depth and prevents the frame from looking flat.

SWIRLS OF MAGIC EMBOSSING FOLDER - Bring captivating texture to your paper crafting with the Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder. Swirls and stars make perfect accents for Halloween, Christmas, or everyday projects, adding dimension to your projects.

DETAILS
- 1 embossing folder
- 6" x 8-1/2" (15.2 x 21.6 cm)
- Use with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (sold separately)
SWIRLS OF MAGIC EMBOSSING FOLDER

Next, run this piece through your Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the Stampin’ Up! Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder.

Next, flip the embossed panel over and attach a piece of window sheet to the back, making sure it completely covers the jar opening.

Add foam tape to the edges on the back of this embossed frame and window sheet.

Now for the backing:

Trim your Stampin’ Up! 2026–2028 In Colorā„¢ 12ā€ x 12ā€ Pearlized Specialty Paper (Golden Glow) to just slightly under 4-1/4ā€ x 6ā€ so it nests neatly behind the frame.

Adhere the embossed Very Vanilla frame on top of the pearlized specialty paper.

Then attach this entire piece to the center of your card front using your Bearly Precision Tip Glue.

And just like that — you have depth.

Stamping tools on a gridded mat: twine spool, Stampin’ Pad, Sweet Words & Labels set, and a stamp reading Oh, bother
Stacking the sentiment layers adds just the right amount of depth while keeping the greeting front and center.

šŸÆāœØ Step 3: Create the Sentiment Label

Using the Stampin’ Up! Sweet Words & Labels Bundle, die-cut:

• One larger label from Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock

• Several smaller labels from Stampin’ Up! Very Vanilla 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock

Stack and adhere the Very Vanilla pieces together to create thickness and dimension.

Stamp your sentiment onto the top Very Vanilla layer using Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Pad.

Adhere the stacked Very Vanilla label onto the Crumb Cake base layer.

Set aside to dry completely.

šŸÆāœØ Step 4: Die Cut & Prep Your Embellishments 🌿

  • Jar lid from Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Filled With Sweetness Bundle)

Jar lid from Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Filled With Sweetness Bundle)

  • Leaves from Stampin’ Up! Mossy Meadow 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Help Me Grow Bundle)

Leaves from Stampin’ Up! Mossy Meadow 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Help Me Grow Bundle)

Time to build the scene.

Using the bundles listed in the materials section, die-cut the following:

  • Leaves from Stampin’ Up! Mossy Meadow 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Help Me Grow Bundle)

  • Flowers from Stampin’ Up! Very Vanilla 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Playful Packaging Bundle)

  • Tree stump from Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Sweet Old Friends Bundle)

  • Jar lid from Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake 8-1/2ā€ x 11ā€ Cardstock (Filled With Sweetness Bundle)

  • Silly Old Bear from the Stampin’ Up! Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper using coordinating dies from the Sweet Old Friends Bundle

Ink the jar lid lightly using a sponge dauber and Stampin’ Up! Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad to add dimension.

Add twine around the lid using your precision glue and set aside to dry.

✨ Pro Tip:

Many Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers coordinate with dies in their matching bundles. That means you can die-cut directly from the DSP instead of stamping and coloring. If coloring isn’t your thing, this is a fantastic way to add detailed images with zero stress.

šŸÆāœØ Step 5: Bring Your Sweet Little Scene to Life

Handmade bear treat card on a black cutting mat, with jute twine and text: Oh, bother You deserve a little treat
I always dry-fit my embellishments before reaching for the glue. A few tiny adjustments now make a big difference in the finished design.

This is my favorite part… watching all of those individual pieces come together! It’s kind of like decorating a tiny stage, and our silly old bear is about to become the star of the show. šŸÆ

Before we start gluing anything down, let’s do a little dry-fitting. Taking a few extra minutes to play with the layout now will save you from wishing you had moved a flower or leaf later. I dry-fit this card several times before I committed to anything permanent.

Wrap your twine around the right side of the jar lidĀ and secure it to the back. Next, add foam adhesiveĀ to the back of the lid. Position the lid along the top edge of the honey jar until you’re happy with the placement, then adhere it to the card front.

Arrange the leavesĀ and flowersĀ around the honey jar to create a soft visual triangle. Move the pieces around until everything feels balanced, then adhere them in place.

Handmade teddy bear greeting card with flowers and twine on tan paper, reading Oh bother, You deserve a little treat.
Adding Stampin’ Up! Antique Pearls to the center of each flower brings a soft, elegant finish and ties the entire design together.

With your flower clusters finished, add the twine bowĀ to the left side of the top flower cluster. This little detail finishes off the jar lid beautifully and helps draw your eye to the top of the design.

Next, tuck the tree stumpĀ into the center of the bottom right leaf and flower cluster. This creates the perfect little resting place for our silly old bear.

Now add the bearĀ to the tree stump, followed by the tiny honey pots. I angled the honey pot slightly and popped it up with a piece of foam tape šŸÆ

ANTIQUE PEARLS

Add elegance to cards, scrapbooks, and other paper creations with our beautiful Antique Pearls. These adhesive-backed embellishments will bring a touch of style and class to wedding invitations, seasonal cards, and so much more. They have a low profile, so they won't add bulk to scrapbook pages or cards that you mail.

* 190 adhesive-backed pieces
* 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm
ANTIQUE PEARLS

Once your scene is complete, add a Stampin’ Up! Antique PearlĀ to the center of each flower. It’s a small detail, but those little pearls add just the right amount of softness and elegance.

The sentiment labelĀ is the very last piece to go on. I purposely waited until everything else was adhered so I could center the label over the honey jar window without covering any of the details I’d already worked so hard to create. Once you’re happy with the placement, adhere the label directly to the front of the card.

Now stand back and admire your work…

You just created a 5ā€ x 7ā€ Honey Jar CardĀ that’s full of texture, layers, dimension, and enough sweetness to make anyone smile. I have a feeling this one is going to be just as much fun to give as it was to make! šŸÆšŸ»šŸ’›

šŸ¤ŽšŸÆ Layered, Lovely, and Ready to Share

Handmade yellow greeting card with bear holding honey jar; reads Oh, bother You deserve a little treat, on rustic tabletop.
This Honey Jar Shadowbox Card spent months living in my imagination before it finally came to life… and I’d happily wait all over again. šŸÆšŸ»āœØ

And just like that, your shadowbox honey jar card is complete. šŸÆāœØ Layered, dimensional, and full of cozy warmth, this design comes together beautifully once all the elements are in place.

One of my favorite things about this card is how versatile it is. Simply change the sentiment inside, and you’ve created a completely different occasion. Add ā€œIt’s your birthday!ā€ on the inside and it instantly becomes a sweet birthday card. Stamp a simple ā€œThinking of you,ā€ and it turns into a gentle encouragement card. You could even tuck in a gift card and write ā€œHope this makes your day a little brighterā€ for the perfect cheer-up surprise.

Same design. Different story. That’s the magic of a well-built card.

šŸ’› More Than Paper: Supporting Fresh Start & Crash Apparel

Six people pose on a sunny city sidewalk with a dog and a sign for FRESH START scholarship opportunity.
Through Fresh Start, these cards are created to deliver a little encouragement, hope, and a reminder that someone is cheering them on. šŸ’›

These cards are being created to be shared through a program called Fresh Start — a community that supports individuals working through recovery, rebuilding their lives, and taking things one day at a time.

If you’ve ever been through something hard, you know how much a small moment of encouragement can matter.

That’s what these cards are meant to be… just a little reminder that someone is thinking of you. Sometimes it’s not about saying the perfect thing.Ā It’s just about showing up.

šŸ¤ Want to Support Fresh Start?

If you’d like to give back or support the work they’re doing, you can learn more or donate here:

šŸ‘• Supporting the Community: Crash Apparel

Dark ad for Crash Customs with Take a Gander and three graphic T-shirts: Live Fast Die Last, red Crash, and Chandler Crash Santa Ana.
Crash Apparel’s Stay True Stay Sober message is all about recovery, resilience, and supporting those working toward a fresh start.

Another way I’m showing support through this project is by highlighting something really special that’s come out of this community — Crash Apparel.

Crash is someone who went through the Fresh Start program and is living sober. He’s put in the work, stayed committed, and is now in the process of rebuilding his life one day at a time — and that’s not something that goes unnoticed.

What makes this even more powerful is that he’s not doing it alone!

With the support of others who believe in his journey, Crash Apparel was created as a way to turn that story into something bigger. The designs, created by Stacy, are more than just graphics on a shirt. They represent recovery, resilience, and the mindset of continuing forward, even on the hard days.

This is premium apparel built around real-life experiences. Built around growth. Built around the idea that starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing. It means starting stronger.

Every piece is a reminder that progress doesn’t have to be perfect… it just has to be consistent. So when you support Crash Apparel, you’re not just buying a shirt. You’re supporting a story. A second chance. And a community that’s showing up for each other in real ways.

šŸŒŸšŸÆ Love Layered Cards? You’re in the Right Place!

One of the things I hear most often is that my cards don’t just look like cards… they look like little scenes.

Honestly, I think that’s the scrapbooker in me. 🤣

I love building layers, adding texture, mixing dimension, and creating projects that tell a story. Whether it’s a tiny bear standing in front of an oversized honey jar or a completely different theme altogether, I always find myself asking…

ā€œHow can I make this feel like a moment instead of just a card?ā€

If layered cards, scene building, and lots of little details make your crafty heart happy too, you’re going to love the gallery below. I’ve gathered some of my favorite handmade cards that use the same techniques, even though the themes may be completely different.

Who knows… your next favorite idea might be waiting just a few scrolls away.

šŸÆāœØ Sometimes the Sweetest Ideas Are Worth Waiting For

Handmade greeting card with teddy bear holding honey jar; text reads Oh, bother You deserve a little treat on a rustic tabletop.

If this Honey Jar Shadowbox Card taught me anything, it’s this…

When your crafty instincts tell you to buy the bundle… buy the bundle. 🤣

Because apparently some ideas refuse to leave until they’re brought to life.

This card spent months living rent-free in my head while I waited (not-so-patiently) for the products to come back in stock. Every time the restock date changed, I was convinced I’d have to let this idea go.

Thankfully, I didn’t. Looking at the finished card now, I’d wait all over again.

The warm golden shimmer. The sweet little bear. The layers. The texture.

The shadowbox dimension. It turned into exactly what I imagined the very first time I saw the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper.

So if you’ve got a project sitting on your wish list that you just can’t stop thinking about, maybe this is your sign. Trust your creative instincts. Follow the ideas that won’t leave you alone. And if your heart keeps saying, ā€œYou need that bundleā€¦ā€ well… maybe listen a little sooner than I did. 🤣 After all… Sometimes the sweetest ideas really are worth the wait. šŸÆšŸ»āœØ
