✨ Crafting in Design Space® – Plan Before You Cut!
Before cutting a piece of cardstock, I designed this Minnie Mouse stocking in Cricut Design Space®.
That’s where I chose the Minnie SVG, adjusted proportions, and figured out how all the pieces would fit together—stocking base, bow, ears, cuff… the whole works! This step not only helps you visualize the final look, but lets you resize and perfect everything before committing to the first cut.

✂️ Step-by-Step Minnie Mouse Stocking Assembly
Layer by Layer, Dot by Dot, and Bow by Bold Bow!
1️⃣ . Add Polka Dots for Minnie’s Dress
It’s not Minnie without the spots!
• Punch or die-cut ¾” circles from White Daisy Cardstock
• Adhere them to the Real Red stocking base
• Space them evenly for a clean look—or go a little wild with playful spacing!
2️⃣ Create Minnie’s Signature Bow
That bow? It’s everything.
• Cut a bow shape from Real Red Cardstock—slightly smaller than the width of the stocking cuff. (3.42” x 2.32)
• Die-cut 1/2” white circles and adhere them to the bow for that unmistakable Minnie flair
• No bow die? No problem! I used a Cricut SVG I found in Design Space, but you can absolutely fussy cut one by hand—it still turns out adorable!
• Set it aside with foam tape on the back—we’ll add it in a bit!
3️⃣ Die-Cut Minnie’s Ears
Peek-a-boo ears incoming!
• Cut two 2.25” Deckled Circles from Basic Black Cardstock
• These will tuck behind the bow and peek out from the cuff
4️⃣ . Create the Centerpiece
Let’s bring Minnie front and center!
• Cut a 3.25” Deckled Circle from Basic Black Cardstock
• Add your Minnie Mouse Face SVG on top
• This becomes your layered focal point, tying everything together
5️⃣ Putting It All Together — Assembly Tips That Make It Pop
Here’s where it gets a little detailed—but trust me, it’s worth the precision for that picture-perfect finish!
• Don’t insert the pull-tab just yet!
Instead, slide the stocking base just underneath the cuff piece, with the pull-tab gift card insert positioned behind the stocking.
You want everything to lie flat, as if the stocking were fully closed. This gives you an accurate preview of how it will look once assembled. Now you can begin placing your decorative elements exactly where they belong.
• Start with the bow.
Place it so it sits about halfway on the cuff and halfway overhanging onto the red stocking base. Don’t glue it down yet—we’ll attach it last!
• Tuck the ears.
Slide the two black cardstock circles slightly behind the bow to create that signature Minnie Mouse ear effect.
• Now add the centerpiece.
Place the Minnie face SVG layered on a deckled circle onto the front of the stocking, tucking the top slightly underneath the overhanging bow.
• Adjust as needed.
If your Minnie face embellishment is a bit large, trim the top of the circle so it fits snugly on the stocking base and lines up perfectly with the bow above it.
• Glue down the ears and the centerpiece.
Be sure to leave a small section at the bottom of the centerpiece unglued—this will be your tuck spot for the holly leaves in the next step.
• Once everything is dry and secure, attach the bow.
Peel off the foam tape backing and press the bow firmly into place—but only the part that touches the cuff! Leave the overhang foam-covered so it doesn’t stick to the red stocking base when sliding the pull tab.
Pro Tip: Always dry-fit your elements before committing! Move pieces around, double-check spacing, and adjust as needed. Once everything looks just right, go ahead and glue it all down—except the bow, which gets attached last for best alignment.
6️⃣ Add Some Christmas Flair!
Let’s give Minnie some holly jolly vibes:
• Die-cut holly leaves from Garden Green
• Ink or blend edges for depth
• Tuck into the open area of the SVG circle
• Add adhesive-backed berries where the leaves meet
7️⃣ Toe & Heel Stitching – Classic Minnie Touch
Balance that design like a pro.
• Die-cut two 2.25” Deckled Circles from Basic Black Cardstock
• Cut each in half—use halves as toe & heel patches
• Adhere and add faux stitching with a white gel pen
These accents ground the design and form a visual triangle with the ears and the centerpiece!
8️⃣ . Attach Your Gift Card & Slide in the Magic!
• Slip in your gift card, slide the pull-tab into the stocking—and BAM!
You’ve got a stocking that’s more magical than a Main Street parade.
